HRP's site investigation and due diligence professionals research and evaluate current and historical uses of commercial real estate for the purpose of assessing potential environmental liabilities associated with known or suspected subsurface contamination. Twenty years of industrial process and permitting experience provides our teams with practical evaluation of contaminant sources.

HRP's geologists and hydrogeologists work with property owners, lending institutions, potential purchasers and/or developers to design and implement hydrogeologic investigations focused on obtaining the specific environmental data necessary to support the client's real estate and risk management decisions and regulatory objectives.

Our Hydrogeologists and Remediation Engineers are dedicated to working flexibly with the client during remedial design and/or cost estimating to balance competing objectives for remedial projects, including initial capital costs, operating costs, timeframe for completion, impact to current and future site activities, and regulatory cleanup objectives.

Environmental Site Assessments

  • Public file review and historical records research to detail former operations and/or land uses

  • Review of regulatory enforcement history

  • Site inspection and visual inspection of contaminant sources

  • Review of hydrogeological and geological data

  • Identification of recognized environmental conditions and environmental liabilities

Subsurface Investigations

  • Geophysical surveys for non-invasive identification of subsurface anomalies, buried waste sources, and bedrock topography
  • Ground penetrating radar, terrain conductivity, and seismic refraction
  • Soil gas surveys to delineate volatile organic groundwater plumes and source areas
  • Test probes and borings for direct evaluation of soil quality and contaminant source areas
  • Groundwater Geoprobe studies for rapid, real-time evaluation of contaminant migration
  • Monitoring well installations for 3-D plume mapping and compliance monitoring

Hydrogeologic Investigations

  • Slug tests for hydraulic conductivity analysis

  • Pumping tests for qualitative aquifer analysis

  • Packer tests and geophysical logging for fracture analysis and contaminant flow assessment

  • Wellhead protection studies

  • Groundwater and contaminant flow modeling, and fate and transport analysis
