  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan Preparation & Training

    HRP Associates, Inc. was responsible for preparing a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for an engineering facility. HRP began the project with an inspection of the interior and exterior of the plant building to determine the following:

    • Location of all materials/operations exposed to precipitation (including exhaust vents and loading/unloading areas);

    • Types of pollutants associated with each material/operation exposed to precipitation;

    • Direction of drainage flow;

    • Precipitation drainage systems (e.g., catch basins, swales, etc); and

    • Receiving waterway(s).

Following the inspection, HRP met with management representatives to obtain information on good housekeeping practices, preventive maintenance procedures, spill prevention and response procedures, training programs, inspection programs, and pollution prevention team members. From the information obtained from the site inspection and meetings with management representative, HRP prepared a SWPPP to comply with the requirements defined under the CT-DEP’s General Permit for the Discharge of Stormwater Associated with Industrial Activity.

To ensure that the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Team members understood their responsibilities and roles under the SWPPP, HRP conducted an on-site training seminar.
