HRP OPENS PHILADELPHIA AREA OFFICE

As of September 5, 2006, generators of hazardous wastes are required to use the new, uniform hazardous waste manifest form. The new manifest form, which cannot be modified by state agencies and eliminates state-only information (except for state waste codes), includes the following changes:

Item 3: Space for generators to specify 24-hour emergency phone number

Item 5: Space for generators to specify site location if different from its mailing address

Item 13: Space to enter up to six federal and state waste codes

Item16: Space for international shipment information

Item 18: Space for designated facility to specify: waste discrepancies, rejected shipments (partial or full), alternate facility for rejected shipments

The new manifest contains six pages which need to be distributed to different facilities/individuals. Many states still require the generators to submit a photocopy of the first page of the manifest. Please check with your state agency to determine if any additional manifest copies must be submitted.
